Frequently Asked Questions

More ILP FAQ

  • What is ILP’s Ten Dollars for Literacy (TDL) Program?

Ten Dollars for Literacy (TDL) is a concept that ILP has embarked upon to show the great impact an individual living in the US (or other developed countries) can have in India . With ILP’s efficient handling of projects, just $10 a month for 1 year can educate a mother and a child. When there are a great number of us supporting this cause, it quickly adds up. Every cent you donate through the TDL program will be utilized for projects (no overhead).

TDL donors have the flexibility to donate on a monthly ($10), quarterly ($30) or annual ($120) basis.

  • How will my contributions to the TDL program be used by ILP?

ILP utilizes your contributions to predominantly support children's and women's literacy. We carefully select our NGO partners that implement projects in India. Your contributions are utilized to fund such projects in four key areas:

    1) Back to School: Residential & non-residential 'bridge' courses that bring out of school children up to the required learning levels before enrolling them in government schools
    2) Strengthening Mainstream Schools and improving quality of education: Working together with the local community and government to ensure that there is self-sustenance. Development of innovative and effective teaching methods
    3) Functional Adult Literacy: Primarily focused on women's education and skills training
    4) Mass Litearcy Initiatives: Raising literacy levels over a large geographic area(block/district/state) by effective utilization of government resources and applying successful intervention models
